Impact of Impurities in Water on Equipment
Various impurities in water can affect advanced desalination equipment. Among them, ionic impurities including cations such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium, as well as anions such as sulfate, chloride and carbonate, are the main factors affecting desalination performance. When the concentration of these ions is too high, it will increase the processing load of the equipment and reduce the service life and exchange efficiency of ion exchange resins. In addition, non-ionic impurities such as organic matter, colloids and suspended solids in water may block the filter membranes or resin pores of the equipment, affecting water flow rate and treatment performance, even causing equipment failure and increasing maintenance costs.
Equipment Components and Functions
The equipment mainly consists of a pretreatment unit, a desalination unit, a post-treatment unit and a control system. The pretreatment unit includes filters and other equipment, whose function is to remove large particulate impurities such as suspended solids, colloids and organic matters in water, so as to provide favorable influent conditions for subsequent desalination treatment and protect downstream equipment. The desalination unit is the core part, including ion exchange resins or reverse osmosis membranes, etc. Through ion exchange or membrane separation technology, it deeply removes various ionic impurities in water to achieve preliminary desalination. The post-treatment unit may be equipped with ultraviolet sterilization, precision filtration and other devices to further remove microorganisms, residual ions and other substances in water, ensuring that the effluent quality meets higher purity requirements. The control system is responsible for real-time monitoring and control of the entire equipment operation, adjusting the operating parameters of each unit to ensure efficient and stable operation.
